Happy Hunters!

Well where do I start, Shannon “Earl” was  the only person to contact me back about an east Texas duck hunt during thanksgiving time, after a few conversations, we were set…..From that start I could tell that Shannon had his heart in the game, he is really knowledgeable, and was excited about getting into the field.  This was my third duck hunt ever, and I was very eager to see some ducks.  In the blind I think he was more excited about seeing the ducks than we were……a couple of times, he caught himself smiling under the face paint.

This was my nephews first hunt, and Shannon’s instruction and patience could be seen throughout the hunt working with him.

I picked up the ACE call and thought I'd give it a blow. As soon as I did I realized it sounded exactly like true duck so I thought I'd put it on my lanyard and try it out on the ducks. Opening day I started out using it and as soon as I'd blow it at a flock it was like I'd thrown a lasso around their necks. I continued to use it as my go-to call all season long with great results and I fully intend to be blowing it opening day next season.

I have quite a collection of store-bought duck calls from all price ranges, but it seemed they would all be blown out of tune after just a few hunters. Not to mention if I were to take them apart, they would never sound the same again. In October of 2003, at a Ducks Unlimited banquet, I was introduced to Flying Aces and Shannon "Earl" Smith. My duck call troubles were soon to be over. I played around with his calls and instantly fell in love with the crisp, pure duck sounds that they all carry.

I never leave home without the Ace, The Original, and my 2 custom duck calls on my lanyard. From the confident high-end hail calls to the crisp and desperate low-end work, these calls give the range and volume I need to work the most weary birds. I hunt many settings from flooded timber, to big water and open fields...these calls have it all. I should also mention how durable they are. I am hard, rather abusive on my equipment. Mud, water, or ice, there is no stopping us from getting to the birds. Earl built 2 customs calls for me, the craftsmanship and artwork are noteworthy and sure to be family heirlooms. I have also used Flying Aces calls to win calling competitions."

I have been hunting waterfowl almost my whole life. In 1999, I had the opportunity to get in contact with Shannon Smith of Flying Aces Duck Calls to build me a duck call. Some 8 years later, that call and I have hunted from the Mississippi Delta region, south to Mexico and many points in between. Let me tell you, the quality and performance is noteworthy. When you buy a call from Flying Aces, you are not just getting a duck call, you are getting an actual working tool that is built for duck hunters by duck hunters. This is why I own several.
